The Most Perfect Imperfect Photo Shoot
As my husband and I plan what we want to do this weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary, I couldn’t help but think back to our wedding day. While I spent the morning getting ready with 3 of my favourite ladies and my mom, my husband was hanging with his 3 best friends having the time of his life.
After a small ceremony, we did what anyone would do on a slightly snowy day. We took a detour on our way to the reception and went for ice cream. I mean who doesn’t dream of eating ice cream in a fancy dress? In hindsight, we probably should have told our photographer we were stopping so she could have met us there.
We ate lots of amazing food, danced ourselves silly and then headed home to start the next chapter of our life.
While I have so many amazing memories of our wedding day, and a ton of wedding photos I’m over the moon about, I think I’m still more excited about our “Trash the Dress” photo shoot. It was one of the things that sold me when booking our photographer.
Hilary and I were planning the session for months. Finally it was here. I put my dress on (yes, my real wedding dress) and Joel put his suit on (yes, his good suit!). Hilary met us at our apartment; we packed up the cars, and headed to the Rouge Hill waterfront. The scene where the most perfect imperfect photo shoot happened.
We quickly got over our nerves of ruining my wedding clothes and we just went with it. We were able to relax and have fun. It was honestly one of the best times of my life and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Thinking about doing a “Trash the Dress” session but paint isn’t your thing? Why not go to the beach and do the session in the water? If the two of you are into 4-wheeling or dirt biking, head to your favourite spot and get muddy.
Photo credits go to the amazing Hilary Spencer (with the exception of the ice cream shop….we really should have told her we were going!)
